The Pope said he also looked with apprehension at conditions prevailing in several parts of Africa, including the "catastrophic" humanitarian disaster in Darfur, violence and looting in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the "grievous crisis" in Zimbabwe.
Who else is listening? For many he could be just another voice . . . Happy Easter to you, anyway.

I'm glad that he's at least saying something about it, however his position on HIV/AIDS and contraception leave something to be desired.
I guess we couldn't get everything we would want at once! The issue of contraception in the Catholic Church is one big problem.
Does anybody seriously believe those folks who do NOT use condoms while having sex rather promiscuously, thereby contributing heavily to the spread of AIDS, refrain from doing so because the Catholic Church is not in favor of condoms?
Those folks care sh*t about Catholic teachings. They don't care that the Catholic Church condems infidelity, especially within a marriage, as a much graver sin than condom use.
But then suddenly, when it comes to condoms, they turn devout Catholics who, against their own impulses, can't use them because the Church discourages them? What nonsense.

You got a point, brother. There are really few "practising Catholics" who follow all the Church's teachings. The majority are picking and choosing their way around most issues. Condom use is one such...
